It's a Mad Mad World

And to think Mad Men has not even started yet (March 25th). It threatens to up-seat Downton Abbey as must watch television. Of course Fifty Shades of Grey remains must read book ~ latest commentary was in the Post today… http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/mamma_mia_TFCh9ZeqKU7QpYDnH2npoL/0 The mall was madness today… packed. Is it me or is Kohl's trying to morph in to Target and Bed Bath combined? This is madness. Take a walk through the home area~ look at these pictures taken today. They are Bed Bath smashed with Target in a Kohl's store.  This is so Target     Seriously could they copy …

The All Star Game

Much like this season's Golden Globes, which squared off against the Giant's playoff game~ the Oscars, The All Star Game of movies, squared off against the All Star Game of basketball. Again, my family was divided. While I can't argue with the new found fun of having a home team that is exciting to watch~ Thank you Knicks…. The Oscars are more exciting. I mean look at these winning “uniforms” For buy viagra online the neutrals team…..   Kate Mara  Cameron  Angie  J Lo And for the colorful (red) team…  Michele  Natalie And finally from the What Happened Here Team …

Technology Addict… the good and the bad

It all happens so slowly. First it was the cell phone~ simple enough. Then the Blackberry because the firm I worked at insisted~ not that I complained the toy was fun. Then it was vacation with the Blackberry and phone… but refusal to travel with a laptop. Surely my clients would not miss me that much. Then it was traveling with friends and “borrowing” their lap top.  Then it was my own laptop. I have stepped over the line and crossed into the dark world of technology addiction. I take one week off a year without the mall. That surprises …

She will shop but only when there is something she needs or must have. This is true~ and she is also saving her money for a little nip online viagra and tuck (or more likely needle and laser) and whatever technology she and or her kids want. But, when she wants something she has to have it. On my top must have list so far….  Rachel Zoe at Intermix  DVF at Intermix  Alice + Olivia at Bloomingdale's  Aqua at Bloomingdale's  Bottega Veneta at Bergdorf Goodman  Akris at Saks  DVF at Saks  Jason Wu at Bergdorf Goodman Outfit I saw today …

JCP Is This Really Different?

We spent some time in JC Penney today and while it certainly is cleaner, less signed, less all over the place we have to wonder have they just re-named clearance and sale into “Best Price” We found several racks throughout the store with these ambiguous “Best Price” signage. We thought the plan was to have BP on the first and third Friday of the month or something weird like that. Sort of like a pseudo Shabbat~ for the mildly religious. We will only pray the first and third Friday night~ the rest of the time go crazy. Explain to me …

What Goes Around Comes Around

While I am a believer in Karma (“Karma’s a bitch only if you are one…”) today’s post is about fashion and the inevitability of brand resurrection. Before we delve into the latest and greatest it is important for me to state that I do think for the first time we are looking forward somewhat. Sure Marc Jacobs will always look backwards but generally we are seeing some modernistic and futuristic views of life coming through in apparel. It is not just the styles but the fabrics~ light, sheer, technologically advance. But I digress. We can’t seem to let brands die. …

Lessons From a Book Club

Over the last three years my daughter and I have been involved with a mother-daughter book club. It is a great time and we are forced to read books we would not normally read. This month the selection was “Reasons to be happy.” As part of our meeting everyone had to bring ten reasons to be happy. So today I am going to make two lists. One~ books I have read and loved that you might not normally pick up but should. Books are high on my list of reasons to be happy. Two~ ten reasons why shopping makes me …

Let Me Entertain You

On the heels of Idol came “The Voice” and “America's Got Talent”. This week on the heels of “Glee” we cheap pharmacy get “Smash”. I have to say it is so nice to have Debra Messing back and with a gay sidekick~ I still miss “Will and Grace.” This is not coincidence. This is a trend. The same way Law & Order, CSI, 24 and NCIS were a trend. This new trend is counter to those shows~ they are light and entertaining yet incorporate America's love of a good competition (sort of like sports for the ladies). I think the …

Bag of Bags

paper-bags

This is a topic I have visited frequently in my previous blogging life.

I bet this title alone elicited laughter. We all have them. Today when I opened my pantry they came flying out. Evidence of my mild shopping addiction. Enough bags that I could open my own store. So I did something I rarely do… I cleaned out the bag of bags and I even, are you all sitting? … Threw some away. I did not throw away the good ones. We all know they come in different varieties.
