Edward and Christian

I have just arrived home from the IMAX Screening of The Hunger Games. So, before I launch into the aforementioned conversation of Edward and Christian let me tell you this~  if you have not read The Hunger Games~ go buy them and start reading (I could say that for Twilight and Fifty Shades as well). Then go see the movie. It is true to the first book and the premise alone is so startling that if is worth the read. The movie is a bit bloody for my taste but very good. Having read the second it is hard to imagine how they will make it come to life. Can't wait.

On to Christian versus Edward. This past week Fifty Shades hit number one on the NY Times combined print and E-Book best sellers list. The author is a fan of Twilight and it has been said she based Christian on Edward in part. I said to my friend I think this is true~ both damaged, both have this old English way

about them with romance (so odd for Christian given his US upbringing), both rich, both drive fast cars, both adopted, both well read, both played piano, both fall in love at first sight with girls who don't seem to be knock-outs or interested in dating really~ in fact now that I think about it they were both good students too.  Funny enough both girls also had friends (Jacob and Jose~ both J's that love them and the guy's hate them). HHmmmm very close.

We debated are we reading these books because we wish things were simpler~ pre-Gloria days when the men just took care of business? My friend noted that actually Anastasia worked, wanted to work and worked through her pregnancy and baby.  Is it the money? Nah too many books written about that. Do we all just want to be taken care of? I do think this is a part of it. As the moms we are the caregivers but sometimes it would be nice to have someone just take care of us. Do we also just want someone to take control? Yes~ in a sense. On one hand when we make a plan on Saturday night we want you to be agreeable about it~ on the other hand we would like someone else to make the plans and

by the way take control of the car, the plumbing, the financials and the team sports.

In the end we decided it was simpler that that…. it's a fantasy about what women want.  Even as it relates to Edward, it is every high school girl's fantasy for the good looking guy to suddenly

find her.  Christian is that same guy in our twenties.  He doesn't really exist~ he is a fantasy the way The Hunger Games is a fantasy~ only of the violent post Apocalyptic world type.  Still, a fantasy and one we have all enjoyed.

Back to the mall and reality…. The color explosion continues

The new summer line at Children's Place is outstanding.

Abercrombie short preppy shorts for guys actually look cool

Kohl's slowly coming back to life? This is Apt 9 looks good.

Old Navy bright and crisp colors in tees, shorts, tanks and sweats

Everywhere you go there is color and the stores look better for it. Tine for some Daily Show and bed…. the boys are still watching the re-caps on Tebow going to the Jets~ is this a big deal???
